Presented during the Virginia Literary Awards, the Art in Literature: The Mary Lynn Kotz Award recognizes excellence in works written primarily in response to art. The award is co-sponsored by the Library of Virginia and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Friday night’s event is hosted by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and will feature this year’s winner speaking about their work. Saturday the Library of Virginia will host the Literary Luncheon, honoring David Baldacci, 2017 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. That evening the Library will host the Awards Celebration dinner and ceremony.

William Woodward’s exhibition “The Seven Deadly Sins: A Comedy” (Oil Paintings and Master Drawings, 1994-2014) will be on display from September 5th to December 17th, 2017 at the American University Museum, the Katzen Arts Center. The Gallery Talk will be a discussion between the artist, William Woodward, and Artist Clarice Smith, Author Katherine Neville, and Museum Director and Curator Jack Rasmussen about the inspiration and technique behind the narrative paintings in “The Seven Deadly Sins: A Comedy.”
