If You Liked This Book…

FOR MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS, The Eight has been a universally beloved book. Still a bestseller in more than 40 languages, it seems to transcend culture, custom, and even the generation gap. I get bushels of mail weekly from devoted readers around the globe.

If you’ve read and loved The Eight along with those millions of others, here are some other books I think you might also enjoy:

BOOKS I’VE BLURBED:

Over the years, many readers who have already read all of my books have asked me whether there are any fun and interesting authors writing today, whose books I could recommend to them. The best recommendation I could possibly give would be to list those books that I myself have not only read, but that I’ve actually written a “blurb” for. (Blurb: an author quote that is used on the jacket of another author’s book.)

The books I’ve blurbed are listed here with a link to many of the author web sites.

FORERUNNERS AND THE NEXT GENERATION:

When The Eight was first published, nobody knew exactly how to describe it. It was reviewed in both literary and popular journals as historic, modern, mystery, thriller, as well as in Locus, the magazine of science fiction — and it even received the Romantic Times award for Best Classical Suspense Novel. I myself was described as the female Umberto Eco, the female Alexandre Dumas, the female Charles Dickens even the female Stephen Spielberg: The Washington Post called my book “a feminist answer to Raiders of the Lost Ark”!

So from the moment of its appearance on the literary scene, The Eight was regarded as something hard to compare with other works of fiction. And then, almost immediately, comparisons were made to The Eight of a bevy of books that came after it.

New York journalist Dana Gavin has written up descriptions for the colorful array of interesting books in each of these categories:

-THE FORERUNNERS (books with which The Eight was initially compared) and

-THE NEXT GENERATION (books that have subsequently been compared to The Eight.)

I hope you have great fun discovering and reading these authors!
