I just loved your book the Eight. I have reread it so many times and each reread is still a pleasure.
I have your other books as well and are so looking forward to your next novel. It sounds interesting. Is it due for release date soon.
I have rarely read such exciting books. For that a big praise. In addition, I find the choice of words in your books very well chosen. Best like The Magic Circle. In addition, I find the many emotions that the people in the book have been very successful. you should translate such a book into emojis, as it was already done with Moby Dick. But I think there would be a few emoji missing.
Hi Katherine, I am such a big fan of all your books.
Kevin BarrentineMarch 22, 2018 at 2:22 AM
Hello Katherine! My wife and I met you at a book signing in Pittsburg several years ago. We chatted quite a bit about Idaho and the Lab there, as that is were I previously worked. You autographed my copy of “The Magic Circle”….” To my Idaho friends!”. Unfortunately right after that, I inadvertently left that book on an overseas airplane flight and never saw it again. I just hope whoever found it went on to read and enjoy it! I purchased another copy and am currently reading it again. Most sincerely, Kevin B

Hello dear Katherine! Thank you for the wonderful books and stories you have showed to us. The first book of yours that I have read was The Fire. It has been given to me from an old cousin of my mom; which was an important woman of years 1930-40 at my country, Albania. She told me to read it and to learn things from it. The truth is that I have started to read it because I have noticed the name of Ali Pash Tepelena in it. My sister & I; we have visited the Museum of Ali Pasha in Ioannina, Greece; when we were 5 years old. Since there we have read a lot about him, we have heard different stories about him by our grandparents & old cousins. But the story that we read at your book was just amazing. That’s why I thank you very much for the information and the details you describe. You have done a great work!!! You’re books are adorable!
Best regards,
Enisa from Albania

I enjoyed reading your book, the Eight, a lot when I was a senior in high school. First, I read it in my native language Korean, then later, I read it in English. It was so fascinating, and I just found your website today and now I get to say hello to you 🙂 Also, you had many careers. How did you manage to do all those? Fascinating! 🙂
Hi Katherine! I love your books. Excellent job! Keep it up!
love from Canada…
Gayle MasseyOctober 14, 2016 at 3:21 PM
Hi Katherine:
My name is Gayle Massey and I am thrilled to see that you have written more books than I remember! In 1988, I was driving home from work and heard you interviewed by Leo Laport in San Francisco. I drove straight to the bookstore and bought “The Eight”. Over the years, I have told more people about that book – it is truly a favorite and still can recall scenes so vividly.
The reason for my recent discovery is my sister is staying with me and I loaned her The Eight to read years ago. She said she would like to read it again. That started my recent research and so happy to also see a sequel to The Eight. I can’t wait to read it!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful writing and amazing research. I hope to see more as you have a lifelong fan!

Living a very special year and just began the 8th month .
Please how long do we have to wait for the film… how this story “caught” me more than 15 years ago
and still is fresh.
Just a few days ago I had made my choice for which actress will be grand for the Lady in Algerie… the director…the screnplay writer ( !!!).. I do not dare to think in the other charcters…somebody new? specially for the brave two woman in the past and still THE PRESENT.
Hi loved all your books! I hope there are more on the way. Thanks!

Hoping you come to Mallorca to film!
Thank you so much for such excellent books.

Love your website, love your books…love the fact that we are the same age and both still alive! I’ve been both busy and lazy, so just getting around to reading “Fire”. “The Eight” is on my list of the ten (maybe 5) best books ever written, and I’m a creative Mensan, so my opinion does count for something. My sincerest wish for you, Katherine, is that you are happy again, if not now, then soon. Watch out for serendipity. Thank you for adding to my life, and Cheers, /Cid (Dr. Fleming-Chase, sort-of-retired Psychologist)

Katherine, I spent a significant part of my childhood in the Kalorama Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC and your post about cherry blossoms took me back to carefree days of exploring and discovering the city the way only children can, when everything is new, every day an adventure. In my psyche, the scent of cherry blossoms is inextricably linked with the thrill of unauthorized, illicit vacation days from school, riding my bike along wide, tree-lined boulevards, past embassies and consulates, the scent of cherry blossoms greeting me… a billion sweet ambassadors of Springtime. Thank you for taking me back.
Hello Katherine! I enjoyed my visit here very much. I like your beautiful homes and your pets are so sweet. I love pets too and have three cats and a dog. But the reason I found your site is your books. I just made my own site and would like to invite you for a visit. It is my artistic attic with English poems. It would be nice to see you there 🙂 Thanks for sharing this interesting and beautiful site and good luck with the writing. Best wishes, Eva-Lena

Ms. Neville,
I just love your Book, “The Eight.” I have a paperback copy, a Kindle copy, and an Audible recording. I’ve researched a lot of the historical figures, and geography you wrote about. I love how you incorporated the historical characters into your story.
Thank you, and God bless.

I hope you don’t mind that I call you Katherine. I have followed you with great interest ever since The Eight first came out and I read it while on a trip. I subsequently read all your following books and have remained a fan. I hope you don’t mind, but I felt compelled to send you my condolences in your loss of Dr. Pribram (your beloved Karl). You have had an amazing life with him and mine pales in comparison. Thank you again for your lovely books. I reviewed The Eight as my on-line nickname of Raindance.
Warmest regards,

I’ve read and enjoyed a number of your novels. I also could not help recognizing what struck me as a personal connection: in your time in Idaho you must have done a significant amount of geyser gazing; I was a volunteer with the Yellowstone NP Park Geologist in the late 80s and early 90s. (I also play chess but that’s a much more common attribute).

My heart goes out to you, Katherine. Very sorry for your loss!
I picked up The Eight and started reading, Im SO excited. I cant believe I had never heard of this story. What a great read. Im half way through the book and have been telling everyone that I know. I will pick up The Fire as soon as it comes out.
Katherine,
I was given The Eight about a year ago and just recently picked it up. I am a first time reader of your work and I must say, once into the book, I could not put it down. I am very excited to read The Fire. Thank you for taking me to far off places I will never see, only in my mind, and for sharing a story with me which gave me a wonderful sense of adventure. Im now waiting for the movie to hit theaters !
I am so excited to read “The Fire” I just recently reread “the Eight” (for the 5 or 6th time), and I am continuously amazed at how relevant it is.
Please let me know if Ms. Neville is ever coming to Florida!
I am a Spanish Writer/Journalist/Dreamer based in London and a great fan of your work. In 2012 I self published my debut novel, a Sci-Fi thriller based in London and inspired in the Mayan prophecy of 2012. I have my regular job and family and can’t dedicate my full time to promote and get my book out. However I truly believe it could deserve a place in the bookstore shelves and people would enjoy it.
Any advice on how to get seen by agents? I tried with a few but no luck 🙁
I wish you all the best from chatting Berlin in Germany. Happy new Year!

What a wonderful house! The one thing I really miss about the US is…Virginia. And you get to view the best of it any time you like. I am inspired to renew renovations (pun) on my own funny little house in the bush at Lightning Ridge, surrounded by virgin scrub, tons of native birds and mobs of kangaroos. If I can’t be in beautiful VA, at least I get to be here. Good luck with your writing.

when I read her book eight, I discovered with great satisfaction the masterful way she had to place chess as a point of origin of the ingenuity embodied in jewelry and figures, with fire as I have experienced in my profession (chef) has done it again capture my interest in the bird of fire for new game…

I first read The Eight in 1988 – loved it! Have also read several times and love A Calculated Risk. Found The Fire in February 2013. Had to re-read The Eight (for the sixth time) and have just finished The Fire. You are a favorite author for this voracious reader. Love your style and the history you incorporate in your plots and characters. It appears you left this open to a possible third book. Hope you don’t wait another 15 years to write it.

Just finished “The Eight” + the excerpt of “The Fire”…
pretty slick way (bordering on brilliancy actually) of selling more books! Being on limited income I will have to see if’n I can find a copy of “The Fire” as a withdrawn from the public library copy as I did with “The Eight”. Failing at this I will indeed find a plan “B” way of getting a copy as my wanna know why da brothers were off to Russia to get the Chess board when da rest o’ da Montglane Chess service was gonna be buried! You’ve corrupted me into another addiction needing to now know what the hell other trials, tribulations, and mayhem you will now have dreamed up to torture Catherine and the rest o’ da gang with! Regardless,I did enjoy “The Eight” as best as I could Grock the story line! Continued success with your writing endeavors and may the lord God of your being be with you now & always! Walter

Thanks for sending me your newsletter. Few writers (George R.R. Martin and Stephen King excepted) ever learn the effect of their writing on their readers. I read both “Eight” and “Calculated Risk” in 2004 with greaat joy, and then lost track of your writing. I was sidetracked by own writing. Two volumes of short stories and dozens of other pieces published. But your plotting and–most important–sense of “invention” have stayed with me all these years. Now, let me go back to my bookseller and try to catch up. Again, thanks!

Hi! I totally loved The Fire after I read it, 6 years ago. I haven’t found any other books you’ve written but believe me, I’ve reread it a lot. I just keep finding and finding things everytime i read it. I really admire your writing. You have a great ability to create a story, to include real facts in it, to make everything fit in like the most awesome and perfect puzzle. I wanna be a writer, I consider myself a writer, even if I haven’t published anything yet, and really, you’re one of my inspirations. Love from Mexico! 😀

Dear Katherine,
Your books have captured mine and my sisters’ imagination for over 15 years now. I have gone through three copies of The Eight (one tragically lost to a spa, another fallen to pieces from re-reading), own two copies of The Magic Circle and am about to replace my dilapidated copy of A Calculated Risk. I have just re-read The Eight and The Fire for at least the twentieth time and I swear that every time I read them I still get as much, if not more, enjoyment as the first time. I wish you’d write more books, yours are those that I purchase without reading the blurb! Thank you for your brilliance and eloquence, you make my life a better place for sharing your genius with this devoted reader.
Regards, Trish.

Hi, I read The Eight and the Magic Circle so many years ago. I think I read The Eight between 1991-1992. I am about to read The Fire would I need to go back and re-read The Eight? Or is there a way to get sympnosis from the first book? I don’t want to get lost with the new book. Reading both The Eight and The Magic Circle took me a while since I had to read some passages over again… Thanks for your books!

I am re-reading The Eight after twenty years, this time with my significant other, with whom I wanted to share this wonderful story. I loved The Magic Circle as well, and look forward to reading The Fire. Katherine, it seems that you have lived a fascinating life so far – surely your biography would be just as riveting as one of your novels!?

i picked up a copy of your book “the eight” a day before my final exams in 10th grade. and i remember that because i could not get through my exams fast enough, anxious to return to your story. “the eight” was far more interesting and educational…this was over 20 years ago, and the story still tugs at me. it is a wonderful book.
Liliya GirichNovember 5, 2012 at 3:54 PM
Thanks Katherine for your amazing book! I start discovering your creativity with the book “The Magic Circle”. This book was so fascinating me, plunged into a world of adventure, that I re-read the book several times again. Now I have finished reading the book “Eight.” I never thought before that the story around the chess could be so intriguing. Your excursus into the history, in my opinion, very well intertwined with modernity in this book. I really like your style. Now all my family fascinated your books. I wish you good luck in your creativity. Lilia… Russia

Checking in and thinking about how you have been one of the people who have inspired me to write my first book. It is a bit more involved then I thought it would be but the story lies with in and I am looking forward to when I finally have it published… my wish is that one day I will have my own page about the many books I have written as you do. Thank you for your books and for the few conversations we have had that planted a seed that is now growing. Blessings to you, Katherine with love, Sharon

A while back, I read your first book, “Eight” and I was totally absorbed in the adventures of the book. Then, sevear.eral years later I read the book again, and I saw it from a totally different perspective. You really inspired me to want to write novels also. I would love to talk with youin person on one of my visits to Washington, DC this year. There is so much to share with you.

Thanks Katherine!
I have just finished “The Eight”! It was very well done. It brought answers to the questions that alchemists searched for,and I believe stopped searching when they realized how dangerous those answers could be in the wrong hands, just as you have eluded to.
Thanks for introducing me to the world of chess, numbers and deeper spiritual philosophy. The historical facts were very nicely researched!

Me gusta mucho tu libro! Cuidate!

Years have i been waiting on a book such as this, and here I thought history bores me:)
I bought this book and just cant let it go! Currently I’m somewhere on 400 page and every time I hear tales of thIs service, though fictionaL, it chills me. I love your
blend of chess, music, codes, history and even physics in this book being a musician and a chess player myself I find this book absolutely amazing and clear Despite my english not being perfect there are no words–chilling, gripping, educating, smart, awesome.
my best wishes to your successful career keep up your work. I will be sure to read The Fire

Hi Katherine,
THE EIGHT was quite pleasurable reading, among the best. i enjoy the research that you placed in the story which added considerably to its intrigue and readibility. Much like reading Dan Brown, though i see you were first, your storyline is well removed from the canned approach and so well thought out. i also read and loved your bio which says tons for you that i wish i knew you as a friend, perhaps as a bridge partner if you played. Barry

Since I read Eight in 1989 I believe that book may have defined what I enjoy about reading. Most of the authors I read write similarly to Ms. Neville however, rarely do I find a book or an author that is as good. Ms Neville remains one of my favorite authors.
Thank you for sharing your amazing stories and knowledge. They are treasured additions to my library.

Katherine
I read The Eight and The Magic Circle years ago. Recently I came upon The Eight again in an airport bookstore. Bought it and re-read it and glad I did. So, that inspired me to re-read the Magic Circle. Your books hold up, even though the years have moved forward and the events and technology aren’t current the stories are terrific. I also appreciate the research you do. I know that a novel is fiction but I think that if an author is going to cite historical events or some arcane facts they do their homework and you do. Dan Brown, much as I enjoy him, has nothing on you.
Best Wishes
John Franco

Dear Ms. Neville,
I have enjoyed your books immensely and your site is beautifully arranged but I was wondering: why not more photos of you and yours? A lot of people who visit author websites would like to see more of the author, wonders that the author has seen, joys that the author has experienced.

Great idea! We will do it soon! — Katherine and her Web Team

I’ve enjoyed your books over the years. Those few pages in The Eight in which we encounter the Tassili paintings have never left me. Every so often I’ll browse through Pbase to find new photography of the area, even twenty years later.

Freemasons: Currently, the Catholic Church does not prohibit membership in this group.
Reply: That is correct. Any allusions to Freemasons mentioned in Katherine’s books are in the late 1700s A.D. when they were regarded as suspect not only by the Vatican but also by many governments.

Hi! My name is Nikola (or Nicolas). I’m 16 year old boy from Europe, more precisely from Serbia. It’s a real pleasure for me and my family to have an opportunity of reading your books. I wish all the best to you, and, of course, to keep on with the good writings.

Marilyn

Dear Katherine-
It’s been almost 10 years since I picked up a copy of “The Eight” in German and it was the first book I read in my mother’s language, having grown up with English as my first reading/writing language. It is the book that returned me to reading, a passion that had been dormant for an incredibly long time. It reflects the kind of multi-layered abstract, intricate and intertwined nature of things. I relish that.
I was delighted to find “The Fire”, again in German, of which I will now savour each and every moment of reading…
Thank you for sharing your talent!

I just finished reading “The Eight” and I thought it was amazing. In the back of my book was the first chapter of “The Fire” and I found out that Alexander Solarin had died. I was just wondering why. I mean, Solarin was my favorite character in your book, and you, um, killed him. I can’t wait to read “The Fire” though.

I have been a fan of “The Eight” for almost 9 years. Originally I read it aloud with a very close friend, and have read it on my own several times since. Whenever a friend asked for a recommendation in reading, “The Eight” always came up.:)
This is the first time I’ve been to this website and the first that I’ve heard about “The Fire” I am very excited to go and get my hands on it! Thank you for such a great reading experience so far and I look forward to reading more of your work. 🙂

Hi Dear Kat!!!

Dear Katherine!
I have read all your books translated into Russian! It is fantastic! It is the best historical romans and detectives I have ever read!
But there is one problem: The Fire is not translated!!! And as for me, it is very difficult to read this book on english. Tell me please, will be The Fire translated and when?
With kind regards,
Ksenia from snowy Russia.

I have enjoyed your book, The Eight since it was recommended to me ten years ago. It has been my favorite book to pick up whenever I have a moment to myself. It’s exciting to jump into the worlds that you create! The book club I belong to is discussing it tomorrow, and I am waiting impatiently to hear what everyone has to say. Thank you for writing such a mesmerizing novel.

I have read “The Eight” and “A Calculated Risk” so many times over the years, I can’t even count. I finally realized you may have a website and am off to buy the other two books today!
You are a gifted writer and have forever made me a lover of historical fiction.
Best you should change the blog title Guestbook Katherine Neville to something more suited for your subject you make. I liked the the writing withal.

Hello Kathrerine
Im from Greece and for the last 10 years I have lived in Santorini. I am a conservator of works of art and a painter. I love old objects, ancient civilization and their mysteries. The Eight was the best Book for me. I’m sure, that, if the story was true, I would be a “piece” in the Game!

Katherine,
I read the Eight and the Fire, I enjoyed them so much that it was difficult for me to put the book down to resume my normal daily activities. I was captivated and hypnotized while reading.
Katherine, I am forever your fan. Right now I am reading The Magic Circle (could not find the book in Toronto, so I got it in the USA). Next to read A calculated Risk.
Thank you for sharing the awesome work of art.

Katherine, I’m sure you’ve heard all this before, but in “The Eight”, which I’m reading, you dropped some trivia about JS Bach and Philador that VERY few people know about. Besides being a genius, are you also into the arcana of the Flemish mystical tradition in Bach’s music? (Ockegem – Buxtehude – Bach). I taught and performed Renaissance and Baroque music all over the world (Oberlin College, Vasser College, Mannes Colleg of Music, etc.) before switching to IT Engineering, and very few people knew about that. Also, Bach must have been seriously into (at least) applied mathematics, since he was a reknonwned authority throughout Europe on organ design and construction. Do you know more about his involvement with math?
Anyhow, can’t say enough how much I’m enjoying your book!

Dear Katherine,
It’s been over twenty years since I “first” read “The Eight” and since then I have reread it at least 20 more times! I absolutely loved it then, and still recommend it as one of my all time favorite books to everyone. My only wish is that you write faster! I eagerly await your next novel …. in the meantime I just reread (with pleasure) all the others!

hello Miss Katherine, I’m Estefany and I live in Mexico. I really admire your work, the book of “eight” is one of my favorites, I couldn’t read the second part but I hope to do soon.
You and several authors inspired me to write a book and, although it would be my first time to do it, I think it might give me some advice. I hope you can read this and answer my request. Thanks and have a nice day.

Thank you for your excellent books! The Eight is one of the best book of 20th century! I am interested in mysteries about us. I am an ordinary woman (cleaning, cooking, vacuuming… :-))but when I have a little time for me, I open your book and I’m leaving this world!
Have a nice day!

What a transcendant experience to stumble upon two books of Katherine’s at THE STRAND in Greenwich Village in NYC. I felt transported to another realm for 3 days as I could not put them dowm from subway to bus to home and desk. A riveting experience to enter the phenomenal realm of a master creative mind at work. I feel lifted up, rejuvenated and a bit scared too at a crazy world that she understands too well! Wow…joy! Don W., NYC

Dear Katherine..
I’ve read your three books: Eight, Fire and Magic circle and I’m simply delighted. I can not wait to start reading to Calculated Risk. First time on your web page, I had a chance to read your biography and I have to admit that I’m really fascinated by all the works you have done and therefore what you have achieved today. You are an inspiration to me and I hope that your words will continue to keep our thoughts on your books.

I just finished The Eight on my iPod. What a ride that was. I commute over an hour each day and couldn’t wait to get in the car to find out what was going to happen next. It amazes me how this story has so many twists and turns. What sort of mind comes up with this stuff! Awesome!

Dear MS Katherine Neville,
I come from Albania. I am a university professor of British and American Literature. I just learnt tonight on TV that your novel The Fire has recently been translated into Albanian. I have been doing research and publishing on the Albanian theme in British and American literature. Actually I am supervising a PhD thesis and an MA thesis on Loretta Chase’s romances. If you are interested, I would be honored to send you, by email attachment, a copy of a survey of “The Albanian Theme in English and American Literature”.
I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.
Sincerely,

I’m not so good in English. So that’s why I wrote this note in Spanish. I hope you understand! I came across “The Eight” quite by chance – at a yardsale, having never heard of it or you, the author, before.
Once I started reading it I could not put it down – and this book is not a quick read. This book must have taken you a long long time to write. A wonderfully crafted tale, infinitely better than The DaVinci Code.
Thank you for giving me days of reading pleasure. My next task is to locate another of your books.
Best Wishes,
Mike Wilson

Like Xie I stopped playing chess at the age of 12. I once won a silver medaille on a Gymnasium Chess competition I was too young to attend. Unfortunately instead of dreaming I was solving chess problems at night. That’s when I stopped.
I found your book The Fire in a church in Amsterdam, that turned out to have a bookmarket on Saturday. This weekend I found The Eight and I am looking forward to read it this evening… Love, Jasper

Another lover of The Eight! I’m a voracious reader (ever since Nancy Drew) & The Eight is my favorite book of all time. I think I’ve read it at least 2 dozen times over the years.
I was wondering if you’ve ever considered doing a novel with Catherine de Medici in it. She and Elizabeth Tudor were such strong women in their day and I have been fascinated by both of them.
Keep up the good work and I anxiously await your next novel!

Hello Mrs Neville.
I read “The Eight” this summer and loved it. I’ve finished “The Magic circle” today and really enjoyed it. I love the way you write the story and to be honest I believe everything you’re telling in your books. I just feel like you where there with Jesus or Napoléon listening to them and now telling us. I can’t wait to read your other books.
Thank you for your stories.
Sean Hamir Jamsuri from PhilippinesJuly 20, 2009 at 12:00 AM
I got your book from a friend who is now bound for Ireland. She is disposing most of her books, and because of my fondness on the number 8, I CHOSE your book and I am very lucky to have it, I must admit. I have started reading your book just this Saturday. I am just so amazed at how you presented the story, and I am enjoying it. I like the involvement of the mathematicians and physicists; also the famous people who were responsible for the colorful history that we have. I admire your wit and boldness with the characters. The book is very engaging.and irresistible! Keep it up!
Rob ChristiansenOctober 8, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Your depiction of Mireille and Ms. Velis describe the most beautiful and smart women that ever lived. Im more than halfway through The Eight, and I really miss Valentine. I suspect that bigboned voluptuous Lily Rad the chess wiz has a thing for Ms. Velis. Now that she and her New York car have just arrived in Algeria and joined her, I wonder what’s going to happen with everything you’ve got going in this book.

I now have read all of your books ! I loved them all but especially find myself recalling “The Magic Circle” most often. I too find myself walking within. I am curious though, is Hawaii a spiritual center? I lived there in the mid-sixties and felt its power more than once!

In your book The Eight. When you talk about Abbeys in France, where did you get your information. History I enjoy greatly especially the French Revolutionary in which this takes place in that period of time. I would like more information.
Thanks, Mouse

I have read “The Eight” and “The Fire”. Both are excellent books. I love the historical facts. I do agree with others who have said they would like to see these books made into movies. I hope there will be a third book soon.
Jacqueline Bogle-MeuseDecember 6, 2009 at 12:00 AM
You have a new fan!!!!.Your book “The Fire” caught my eye in the bookstore After reading the back I ended up buying “The Eight and The Fire”. I enjoyed them both so much. I am now going to start Calculated Risk. Congratulations on your success. Keep writing!!

I just got to buy one of your books — “The Eight” to be more specific, so I am very glad to find a good author like you. When Im reading I am amazed by the manner you could be mooring the history in both sides of the scene. The way that the characters are involved with the chess. A really good story and I will buy your next book “The Fire”.
michael smithNovember 21, 2009 at 12:00 AM
As Katherine has made history come alive in The Eight over the years I have read the book many times; I find i learn something new with each reading. I still dont understand why a movie has not been made yet. If theyre still looking for the perfect Mireille they need to look no further than to Melissa Archer. She is everything Katherine wrote that Mireille should be.

HELLO KATHERINE,
WANTED TO SAY YOU THAT FROM READING THE EIGHT, FOR ME HAS BEEN THE BEST BOOK THAT I HAVE READ — UNTIL I ARRIVED AT THE SECOND PART. [I SPENT A} LOT OF MONTHS WITH THE FIRE. IT GIVES ME HAPPINESSES And DO not CHANGE. YOU CARRY IN THE CORAZON, A VERY STRONG KISS And HAPPINESSES.
fioruccicherubsOctober 1, 2009 at 12:00 AM
The Magic Circle is my favorite of your works but only by a nose. My favorite part is the one about Spelt, Barley, Rye, Wheat and Oats. My favorite character, however, is Verity Banks. I bought The Magic Circle at the Strand New York. I picked it up and read a few sentences and I instantly wanted to be away from there and home and reading your book.
ANA BELENOctober 1, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Hello Katherine, I love the talent that you have to write and [how you] can arrive with your books to all of us. It has loved me your books, thanks to your books [something wonderful] happens while reading your adventures. For me you are the best writer that exists, and since I read El Ocho I remained surprised, until at last has arrived the second part The Fire and I have enjoyed muchísimo. From my city Jumilla SPAIN [I send] you felicito and expect that some day I will know you and that you will sign me an autógrafo. HAPPINESSES

Katherine, I read the eight many years ago and was drawn recently to read it again. Perhaps due to the recent turnings of my mind as to how thoughts influence reality. Its a great book / I am looking forward to reading the sequel the fire.

I got your book from a friend who is now bound for Ireland to meet her dearest. She is disposing of most of her books, and because of my fondness for the number 8, I CHOSE your book, and I am very lucky to have your book. I must admit I have started reading your book just this saturday (07 19 2009). and I am just so amazed on how you presented the story and I am enjoying it. I like the involvement of the mathematicians and physicists; also the famous people who were responsible for the colorful history that we have.
I admire your wit and boldness with the characters.
The book is very engaging, and irresistible!
Keep it up!

Hi Katherine, I am an American currently living in New Caledonia (French Territory) and my husband is French. While I am not a big reader of any novels, I am fascinated by European History. The place where I am currently working has a small book swap area and in passing by so many times, I never take notice, until I saw your book cover for “The Eight”. Funny as the number 8 has played a lot in French history from what I have picked from my husband’s brain and yet, I am the 8th daughter in a family of ten. I can mention so many others, but this drew me to your book. After reading the summary on the back, I began to read chapter 1. Not realizing it, 2 hours had passed and I thought “Merde” I had to get back to work. So I took the book with me and a week later I finished the book (yesterday) and I have to say it is hard to believe it is Fiction. There was a film I watched a while back called “The Count of Monte Cristo”, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas and there is an interesting quote in which Napoleon states: In life, we are kings or pawns. My husband has collection books from Alexandre Dumas and Victor Hugo, in which all are in French and hopefully one day soon, I will be able to read them without question. I have to confess, that I love to watch films and it would be a thrill if “The Eight” was made into a movie. Not to mention, my husband would enjoy it as he was feeling a little neglected during the week it took me to finish this book. Yet, with your book, it gave me the cosiness you get when you curl up and get into a really good book. This has not happened to me in a long time and for this, I thank you. Merci Katherine and I look forward to reading “The Fire” when I can get my hands on an English version.

I was at a yard sale in Tacoma, WA and bought the Magic Circle in paperback for $1.00 to read on my plane ride home to Florida. This book amazed me. I knew a lot about the subject matter although you couched it in fiction. I have never enjoyed a plane ride so much. When I got home, I went straight to Barnes and Noble and bought all your other books. I have really enjoyed reading them. I read Eight a couple of times and will probably take it with me as I travel this summer. As soon as The Fire is available I will purchase it for my plane ride back to FL.
Susan FujiiJuly 8, 2009 at 12:00 AM
I am enjoying your book The Eight! I have to admit I have to read some parts 2 or 3 times, as I dont play chess. It has everything a book needs, it also has everything a MOVIE needs. Have you ever been asked to make it into a movie? I would be one of the first in line to watch it! Thank you for an enjoyable few days, I cant wait to finish and start on the Fire! Take care and good writing.

stella luoJune 24, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Hi Katherine,
I am Stella Luo, currently living in Australia. Many years ago when I was in China, I read your The Eight which was brought back by mother during her trip to USA. I was attacted to the novel immediately. I love the book. I read it not less than 5 times. Unfortunately the book was lost by my friend who borrowed it from me.
Yesterday I went to Melbourne state library and search for some books to read, I picked two books and held them in hand. I found the eight on one of the bookshelves!! Therefore I searched your name for your other novels and the computer showed there is a “the magic circle also availble in the library. Then I asked the assistant to find it out for me. Then, you know what happened? I spotted that one of the two books in my hand is the magic circle. What a coincidence!!! You know the library has 6 floors! I really want to keep all of your books as a treasure!
best regards, stella

Hello Katherine!! I really love “The Eight” and obviously “The Fire”, but I really love The Eight; I think it is the best book you have written!!! In The Fire I really was surprised that the daughter of Cat was named like me so I really was transported by you into the story- Congratulations for your books, I am hoping that youre going to write more fantastic books for all of us! Again congratulations. And for all the fans of Katherine I recommend a book for all of you that Katherine already read that in Spanish is called “La Dama Azul” of the author “Javier Sierra”, Im sorry I dont know how it is called in another language. [In English: The Lady in Blue.] Katherine, in the back part of that book, said that it was a magic and charming story. Because of that I read it and I really recommend it to all of you! Best Wishes! Alexandra from Mexico

Dear Katherine,
The French version of THE FIRE is now available in France and your book has been translated to “Le Feu Sacré”. Ive been waiting a second part to THE EIGHT for so long that I was delighted to see your book last Friday. A couple of days later when finishing the last pages of The Fire, I realised how much I was missing your style and this special positive universal energy that you give to your readers. Katherine, we all need more of this positive energy and THE FIRE is for your readers a warm magical light. I also realised that writing such a book was not that easy because the pressure is as high as the expectations of your readers. Your book is a tribute to the universality of the human kind, a tribute to the past, the present and the future. Thank you again Katherine !

The Fire – Yet another tour de force of historical mysteries and an excellent follow up.
Katherine well done.
KatherineFebruary 23, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Hello, I just wanted to point out/ ask something: In your books you refer to many mathematical, scientific and musical terms and formulas, and obviously you are a very smart woman and probably know much more of those subjects that what you write. Im in year 9 at high school and today when studying maths I was learning about The Golden Ratio. After learning about it i was measuring things about my room to see if anything was a perfect Golden Rectangle I measured my copy (the oldest one) of The Eight and it measured up perfect! I was just wondering is it a coincidence that a fantastic book about maths and finding hidden information is a perfect golden rectangle? Or was that on purpose. or did you not know this until now? Congratulations on your wonderful work. And to those who still have a copy of the original the Eight measure to see that it is a perfect Golden Rectangle!
ÓscarFebruary 22, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Hello. You are the best writer in the world, Katherine Neville! I love your books. My favorite Book is “The Eight”. Good luck, Katherine. Im reading “The Fire”. Greetings!
Cheryl Shearer (Taneatua - New Zealand)February 19, 2009 at 12:00 AM
My husband and I both read “The Eight” when it was first published. Over the years we have bought more copies and gifted them to family and friends to read. When we saw “The Fire” in our bookshop last week, it was very speedily purchased and I have since read “The Eight” again. I started “The Fire” last evening – I am 94 pages in. As it is Friday here today, I intend to stay up this evening until I have finished the book. That is my reward for a hard week at work. Thank you for the pleasure you have given us and for the privilege of being able to tell others about your marvellous story telling (Calculated Risk and Magic Circle are also in our home library). Cheers from New Zealand.
LuisFebruary 16, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Its said that when you are ready, Master appears. This is my feeling about “The Eight”. I always avoided to play chess (it was a hard thinking for me), but after all, Im enjoying the travel through your book and be sure that Ill buy “The Fire”. Very thanks from Spain.
Sean CorwynnFebruary 15, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Katherine, so far Ive had the pleasure of enjoying The Eight, A Calculated Risk, and The Magic Circle. Things seem so chaotic right now that I dont dare dive into The Fire yet, as Ill probably miss nine tenths of the saga.

Mrs Neville,
I would like to tell you, that all your books are excellent. I have already read 2 books (Eight, Risk), and now I am reading “the fire “. I like mystery, passion and of course the characters. I am looking forward for your next book.

Dear Mrs. Neville,
I live in Spain and I am reading your book “The Eight” in the Spanish translation.
I think that there is a small mistake in the first and second pages of that book, because when you talked about “le printemps sanglant” and the flowers of the cherry trees, the color of those flowers is described as RED…They are not red but white in Spain and in Japan, the two countries where I have seen the flowers of the cherry trees.
Nevertheless, it is not important. Your book is great.
Thanks for it.
Maria HunterFebruary 14, 2009 at 12:00 AM
I live in Cookeville, TN, US of America, I wound up with your book The Eight, quite by accident. I was not sure I would enjoy it, but… I decided to give it a shot. Gee! I was very impressed. I enjoyed it so much, I hardly put it down. My husband even commented that I needed to put it down more. But, I was intrigued. I loved it very much and am now looking forward to the next book, so I can continue the story… Thanks for creating it, and Thanks to whomever gave me the book.
PanagiotaFebruary 9, 2009 at 12:00 AM
I really love your books!!! Ive read them all, unfortunately not in English as I initially wanted but translated in Greek, however the beautiful writing of yours remains! All the “heroines” are amazing, all having a magnificent and unique character, a strength in them! Just love them! You really have inspired me a lot. Im really looking forward to read “the fire”!! Im sure itll be as exiting as the other books!
CindyFebruary 8, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Katherine, I live in North Carolina (Sparks territory). I bought “The Eight”, before a journey through London, Paris and Amsterdam. I studied as much as I could before my trip, but found so much more depth, connection and understanding from “The Eight”. Thank you for the feeling of “coming full circle” and enlightening my journey.
Would you consider writing something to encourage a castle tour through Europe? The Normans, Dutch East India co., Spanish Inq.? Oh, the posiblilities!!!!!

I read The Eight for the first time 20 yrs ago. It has been one of my favorite books ever since. I read The Fire recently, and no surprise, I loved it, too. I have read A Calculated Risk, which is wonderful and am holding off on reading The Magic Circle because I will then be out of Katherine Neville novels to read. When will you have another book available for publication? Can we hope for an announcement soon?
CarolJanuary 29, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Todays a great day! I got an email from Book Passage that lists you as among the faculty again at their 16th Annual Mystery Writers Conference this July, and now I see that youve published The Fire! I know Ill enjoy it as much as Ive enjoyed your other work. Thanks, Katherine. 🙂
Ruth-Anne SahinJanuary 26, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Dear Ms Neville I have just finished reading The Fire and really enjoyed it. I have read The Eight so many times I nearly know it off by heart. It was great to meet up with old friends again in The Fire. Although I really enjoyed both books I still think my favourite is The Magic Circle with A Calculated Risk coming in close as well. Looking forward to your next book. Ruth-Anne Sahin

Hello Ketherine, I am 14 years old and until a few months ago completly disliked reading. I read the twilight series and loved it, then went through the Harry Potters which Id never read. But after I was looking for something more. Every book I picked up just couldnt get me interested, until my mum handed me a completely battered book, torn and taped all over. She told me shed read it and handed it to 15 of her friends to read, and my dad had read it 4 times too. When I looked closely at the scratched and torn cover, it read, The Eight by Katherine Neville. I started reading and have barely been able to put it down. For someone who has barely read anything to get through a 700 page book, well, i was pretty amazed. And I think the torn, battered copy gave it some character and suited the old-style story 🙂 I looked up some of your characters like Talleyrand and Catherine the Great and today when i was reading the last few chapters a historical show came on the tv about Napoleon. I loved the mix of modern and old, history and fiction. It was just wonderful to read. I cant wait to get my hands on The Fire and your other books too. Thank-you for taking me on such an amazing adventure! Katherine

Hi Katherine, Ive been reading your books for a long time … and thank you very much your love for the Basque Country. You even thank us in your last book, something I found sweet; I hope you feel yourself at home whenever you are in the Basque Country and I really hope to see you one day at a conference or something in Bilbao.
Muxus, Leire

Dear Katherine! I read all your books, but Fire. And they are brilliant. I read the eight 3 times already. I recomended to all of my friends. You are one of the best writer! All the best from Austria Peggy
Diane WoodJanuary 18, 2009 at 12:00 AM
I have always remembered The Eight as one of the best books I ever read. Im re-reading it now before I read The Fire. Ive wondered for a long time whether or not you would ever write another book. Im so glad you did.
AnneJanuary 16, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Id like to say that The Eight has quickly become one of my alltime favorite books. Though I very much enjoy reading it is not very often that a book captures my interest as well as you have done in both the Eight and the Fire. Being that I consider myself to be somewhat of a history lover, chess lover, and anything mystic this is the absolute perfect book for me. When googling the Eight, simply looking for a site where I could get in touch with other people who enjoyed the book, I stumble upon this site. You cannot imagine how excited and amazed I am to find out that you are not only coming to my city (hilton head) but on my birthday! Im practically squealing with joy! Thank you for doing so much to keep my mind active! I hope so much that I can go and hope that I can use the “its my birthday” excuse to miss school. Trying not to sound too excited, but failing miserably,

Katherine, I really enjoyed your talk last night at the Circulo de Lectores in Madrid. I read “The Eight” a year or two after it came out & have been waiting 20 years for the sequel. Now Ill re-read “The Eight” in Spanish before I read “The Fire” in English. Fran

Hi Katherine, A friend of mine lent me her very old version of “The Eight” when I headed off on a trip to Paris on my own. It was a very treasured book for her and I spend four weeks discovering why. It was an amazing book and particularly good to read while in Paris. On arriving home back in Australia, I bought two brand new copies of “The Eight”, I wanted to make sure that my friend could read it again without the book falling apart (which she has Done) and that I could keep a copy for repeat reading. Thanks really loved it! Looking forward to reading “The Fire”.
Ruth-Anne SahinJanuary 13, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Dear Ms Neville I really enjoy your books and have read The Eight many times. I also really enjoyed A Calculated Risk and The Magic Circle. I was so pleased when I heard about The Fire and have now started to read it. I am about half way through the book and really enjoying it. I recommend your books to all my friends. Keep on writing RA

Hello Katherine. Ive just finished The Eight, and Ive just renewed it for the fourth time (at the library)! Your characters are simply brilliant and rather exotic, and the plot is ingenious.also the story was very ambitious from the start as you included Voltaire, Catherine the Great and even Euler.I never read thrillers, and this may well be the best of many historical fiction Ive read. There is something sophisticated like The Secret History but interpreted in your own style. Some reviews compared you to Dan Brown, but you have written something which Dan Brown can never manage. For one thing, you hardly have any deus ex machina,,, Thank you for writing this book!
marinaJanuary 9, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Hi Katherine, I just finished The Eight, and went immediately to the bookstore to get The Fire and The Magic Circle. The Eight is one of the best books Ive ever read! Im a huge fan of Dumas, and I tell everyone that your writing is very much like his. Im a computer girl as well, so I loved the heroine. Thank you! The “about the Author” was also very impressive. You are a treasure. ~Nancy

Katherine Congratulations on your new book. Im from Spain and I read a year ago the eight and I loved so much by way of narration throughout as they pass through the history books for its intrigue and desire to continue reading. Its great to have a very great writer, and a story as good as this. Just leave the second part “fire” on December 26, 2008 and already have it jeje. I will read it porke I feel like traveling back in time with him. In the new pieces.
CésarDecember 26, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Felicidades.

Katherine, I read the Eight some years ago. I love books that intertwine historical facts with a good story line. My Mothers birthday was 04/04/1920. My birthday is 08/08/1946. I cant wait for the Fire to arrive. I love your books, your thought patterns (pattern recognition is one of my habits) and your writing style. Karl is a very lucky man. Warmest Regards from a fan, John

My name is Catherine and my birthday is April 4th. I attended your speaking engagement at the Book Passage in Corte Madera, California in October 08. I read The Eight 20 years ago and couldnt put it down and after listening to you talk, I decided to reread The Eight before I read The Fire. Again, The Eight consumed me until I finished it . How did you pick April 4th for Charlamagne and Cats birthdays?
VeronikaDecember 5, 2008 at 12:00 AM
I first read The Eight when I was twelve years old. It was my favorite book then and now fourteen years later it still is. I am so excited for The Fire which I just recieved in the mail. ( Im rereading The Eight right now). Thank you so much for the next installment of the story. Youre an amazing writer.

Katherine! It was the greatest pleasure meeting you and your wonderful husband at the Mystery Lovers Bookstore today, and listening to your enlightening vignettes. We could (and would love to) listen to you for many hours! Berny and I have been looking forward to your new book for some time now (ever since we caught wind of it). You have such a way with your descriptions and your characters, it cant help but draw us into the story, and there we are – in the midst of it all! Thank you again for a great day, today! Your friends, the Idaho Fallsians in Pittsburgh!

I am so excited to see you have a sequel, I have purchased MANY copies of The Eight loaned them to friends only to never see them again. I plan to visit your book signing for “The Fire tonight in Seattle and look forward to meeting you. All of your books have been at the top of my must read and when asked for recommendation one of your three previous books seems to always be my first thought. Congratulations on the new arrival. Cheers

I have worked in libraries and bookstores for years and I have always recommended your books! Thanks for writing a sequel to “the Eight”
I have been telling everyone! about it. I hope lots of people come and see you while you are in Seattle!
Jennifer MarcussenNovember 6, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Ms. Neville, I want to thank you for your book The Eight. Not only is it one of my all time favorite books, it is also responsible for me obtaining my high school diploma. I was struggling to finish my education when a teacher presented me with your book. Through reading your book and analyzing your highly accurate historical references I was able to satisfy my remaining credit obligations. Your book has made an immeasurable impact on my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Brenda MacFarlandNovember 2, 2008 at 12:00 AM
I have read and reread The Eight many tomes and have just finished The Fire. Great Sequel! I hope there are more. Somehow I sense there is another Cat , Lily , Nim and Solarin story out there. Perhaps on the Queen Charlotte Islands north of Vancouver Island where the have all decamped to. In old Haida these islands are known as the ” Land between Two Worlds” . Your books sure get the imagination going. Thank You.
AshleyOctober 31, 2008 at 12:00 AM
The eight caught my eye in Barnes and Nobles and I had no idea it would be such an amazing and thrilling book! You have gotten me interested in learning more not just about chess but history as well. Im currently reading the Fire and that book has me just as much enthralled.
Vannie OrdanezaOctober 30, 2008 at 12:00 AM
The Eight is a blast! I love the twists of the story. Very clever and so sophisticated!
Yvonne MaximchukOctober 28, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Hello Katherine, I have had a copy of The Eight since 1988 and it has made every “cut” through various moves over the years. Its sequal must be one of the most long awaited novels in the history of literature. The best books weave together fact , fiction, history, geography and romance and you really accomplished that in The Eight, it is a tough act to follow! Your fan, Yvonne
Gerard TanzerOctober 22, 2008 at 12:00 AM
I just read the Eight again for what must be the 5th time now. No other story has ever captured my imagination quite like that one. I’ve been waiting 12 years for the journey to continue and the time has finally come.
MónicaOctober 19, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Hello! I write from Spain. I liked much ” A Calculated Risk ” and ” The Magic Circle ” and I enjoyed very much reading ” The Eight “, so I have many desires of reading this sequel. I suppose that in Spain the book will be published in Christmas. So I have to wait. Congratulation, Katherine, and thank you for giving us these wonderful worlds.
ChristaOctober 18, 2008 at 12:00 AM
I finished The Fire just last night and was not let down, as is what happens with many sequels. Your writing style and characters always draw me in, and of course, The Fire was no exception. You took the Montglane Service in a direction no one could have predicted.
The Eight is my favorite book (I cant tell you how many copies I loaned and never got back; I finally just started keeping multiple copies to give out). Now I will happily tell everyone that they MUST follow up by reading The Fire.
Thanks for many, many hours of entertainment. Im about to start rereading The Fire.
Jill WisoffOctober 18, 2008 at 12:00 AM
I just finished reading The Eight and have come online to see what the fictional (or not) inspiration was for you in the creation of the Montglane Service. I also am a screenwriter/indie filmmaker (I hope someone with a LOT of money would consider producing this for the screen.it would take the dough but it would be brilliant fun) who concentrated in mathematics and physics through a good part of my schooling and want to compliment you on the writing and research that went into this amazing book. Im passing it on to many people I know and respect who Im sure will be just as captivated by the novel as I was. THANK YOU!
kimberly carlbergOctober 17, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Katherine, Thank you for the most enjoyable read I have had in a long time. Cant wait to read “The Fire”. I handed The Eight off to my daughter. You have a new fan.
Emily LorchOctober 16, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Dear Ms Neville, I was so entranced whilst reading The Eight, which my mother gave to me, and I have The Circle and A Calculated Risk dutifully waiting my attention on my shelf. Being a fresher at university affords little time for pleasure reading. I was so very excited to hear that there was a sequel to The Eight and I cannot wait to read it!! As an aspiring writer myself, I also find your stories immesely helpful when it comes to analyzing plot structure. Thank you so much for another excellent read and a continuation to the saga. Best wishes, Emily Lorch
FranOctober 15, 2008 at 12:00 AM
David NeufeldOctober 13, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Katherine:
You have created wonderful characters in The Eight. What a treat that book was to read. When I read what you have written, I am there with the characters, living the story with them.
You have an amazing talent. Please keep up the great work.
The little tidbit of The Fire, given at the end of The Eight, has enticed me once more to adventure again. This time it will be with Catheriness daughter. I can hardly wait!!!
Questions: What does Catherine look like? Do you leave her looks to our imaginations? I very well could have missed information in The Eight.
Once more, thank you so much for such a great read!
JayneOctober 11, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Nearly everyone in my circle has read The Eight, mainly because my husband and I shamelessly push it on people who visit our home. We give it out, and often it never returns. So we buy another! This is one book I will always have in my library (in fact, Id like to find it in hardcover again). We are very much looking forward to The Fire and joining the Game again with our favorite characters, and a few new ones.
SylviaOctober 10, 2008 at 12:00 AM
My battered old copy of The Eight, published 1988, has pages falling out, and is my second copy (as my first one was loaned to a friend and never returned!). After reading the book the first time it became my favorite, and though I am an avid reader, The Eight remains firmly in place as my favorite book of all time! It is a superbly written book, with an exciting storyline that never grows old, combining historic fiction, mysticism, mystery and time travel along with interesting characters. I am reading it again, in great anticipation of The Fire. CANNOT WAIT for next week!

Thank you for writing such entertaining novels. I first read The Eight years ago and like most others, read it many times, something I rarely do. I bought it for friends, even read it aloud at a cabin one summer to one of my oldest friends family. I have been checking the shelves for years waiting for something new from you. To my utter elation, a sequel to The Eight. Even better! Just wanted to say thanks for the great thought provoking entertainment. You are an exceptional woman! Thank you!
Paula WhitfieldOctober 5, 2008 at 12:00 AM
I just finished reading “The Eight” for the 5th or 6th time in preparation for “The Fire.” I know this sounds a little melodramatic, but this book absolutely changed my life. Since reading it for the first time, I have read books by other authors of the same genre and just never got the same feeling from them that I get every time I read “The Eight.” This is the book that I loan to all my friends, this is the book that I recommend to strangers in the bookstore, and this is the book that I have 3 copies of because I keep wearing them out! Thank you for forcing me to think while being entertained!

I am so excited !! I have just bought your book ” The Eight” once again, for the 4th time ( lent it out to friends who never returned it. sigh) in anticipation of your new novel coming out , not soon enough .just to get reacquainted with the story and wonderful characters. You are on the top of my favorite authors . I love the way you take storytelling and allow the reader to travel back in time and use our imagination allowing us to paint a picture of what it is you are portraying. As a painter people ask me why I dont paint outside ( I do landscapes ) and my simple answer is “If I wanted to remember what I am Seeing I would take a photo.I am trying to show you my dreams and thoughts.my imagination” PEACE
Tina HudsonOctober 1, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Its truly a blessing to be able to share things with your teenage daughter. Several years ago, while on a cruise (our first time), I shared “The Eight” with my daughter. She has since read it a dozen times, as have I, and we are so excited about “The Fire”. I guess Ill have to read “The Eight” in the next week so I can be ready for the 14th!! Thank you so much!

Hi. My name is Harry. Im from Indonesia. I just finished read The Eight in Indonesian translation. Actually I would love to read it in English, but unfortunately I couldnt find the original version here in Indonesia. Its a really great book. I love it and I cant put it down until the last page.
I hope the new book, The Fire, will reach Indonesia soon.
La_SolitudineSeptember 28, 2008 at 12:00 AM

I loved your book The Eight. I am excited to read The Fire. I am working on getting your other 2 books also. I want to buy them instead of just checking them out from the library, and that is why I havent read them.

Amanda MabbettSeptember 9, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Hello, I just wanted to say I really like your style and intelligence in the way you write. I read a lot, but the magic circle and the eight have to be two of my favorite books. I love to come away from a good read feeling like I learned something or just took a vacation, with these I got both. I am now reading the fire as an ARC and I love that so far as well. I would love it if you were anywhere in Upstate NY you are probably one of the only authors I would really like having a signed copy of one of your books. Thanks for writing.
A. Brett NixSeptember 7, 2008 at 12:00 AM
The Fire is an amazing book. Although, I am reading The Fire before The Eight the book is such an amazing story that I will have to read The Eight. To bad you are not visiting a Books-A-Million in Alabama.
Lexy S.September 2, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Ive been completely captivated by your story as Ive read The Eight for the first time. My mother had been traveling back east to visit my sister and picked a copy of it up in the airport in order to have something to read on her flights. However, after she had finished she suggested that I read it. As weve found Ive been drawn into the story much more deeply and quickly than she herself had, even though she had found it quite enjoyable. We are both looking forward to reading The Fire, and once it is released I have a feeling that Ill be buying both books to have on hand for an exciting read, now and again. Youre a very talented writer. I thank you for sharing this gift with the world and wish you the best. ~Lexy

My regular customers cant wait till the new book comes out since I have been singing your literary praises. I have a big historical fiction following in Western New York. Our group has met for the last 9 years. Thank for a very good read. Gerriann Ronsen

Last week on vacation I broke away from my laptop to start re-reading the Eight. I have read it at least 15 times and still enjoy it immensely.
I may have to schedule a vacation day for when I receive The Fire so I can follow my natural instincts to spend the day reading.
BTW, the new cover design for The Eight re-release is awesome. I am due to buy yet another copy of The Eight (many copies have been given away) since page 251 has escaped its bindings.
BarbaraAugust 26, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Katherine, I was given The Eight about a year ago and just recently picked it up.

I read your first book “The Eight” while serving overseas In Iraq. It is a terrific and captivating read. I couldnt wait to read it every night after work. I am really looking forward to this sequel and I am sure it will be a pleasing as the first novel. Good luck and please continue to write. I love how you mix history with fiction. Reading while serving in the military on deployment is the best way to escape and forget the horrible things you see day to day.

I have just been reading The Eight. What a book? What a thriller! I just wish that I just wish that I can get the others.
Writing all the way from Kenya, Africa. Did you know that you have fans from that far?
I love your work. Thank you for your amazing stories.
I still have my original copy of The Eight. I loved it and also the rest of your books. Eagerly anticipating another before I pass from this physical world.
Katherine,
I really enjoyed “Calculated Risk”. Will have to get your others.
Susan
awesome website. I really like the pre-roman sacred spring article
Your book “The 8” change me from a regular, not good reader person to an avid read-lover forever. Thank you so much Ms. Neville

thank you for your inspiration
You are such a perfect author ! I really admire your books! They are amazing and ,especially, the 8 is my favourite ever ! Congratulations!!!
Great books!
Hi Katherine, I am such a big fan of all your books. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift of writing and imagination with us. Our would is immensely richer because of your works!
Amazing writer!
Hello from Seoul, Korea
So-Jung
Thank you for the amazing book, “The Eight”. A personal Top Ten Favorite of mine, and a great influence in my own writing.
Just found your site and am currently reading the summaries. Looks like I might have found my next series! Thanks, nick

Loving all your books 😃
Thank you for teaching me the meaning of Nidifugous. It’s a new addition to my vocabulary.
Hi Katherine! I love your books. Excellent job! Keep it up!
love from Canada…

Blessings from the Mediterranean sea side.
Hi loved all your books! I hope there are more on the way. Thanks!
Dear Katherine,
I’m a long time fan from Spain, waiting anxiously for news of the movie.
Hoping you come to Mallorca to film!
Thank you so much for such excellent books.
Warm regards,
Vanessa
Love your website, love your books…love the fact that we are the same age and both still alive! I’ve been both busy and lazy, so just getting around to reading “Fire”. “The Eight” is on my list of the ten (maybe 5) best books ever written, and I’m a creative Mensan, so my opinion does count for something. My sincerest wish for you, Katherine, is that you are happy again, if not now, then soon. Watch out for serendipity. Thank you for adding to my life, and Cheers, /Cid (Dr. Fleming-Chase, sort-of-retired Psychologist)
Every book is great! Thanks so much!
Thank you for taking me back.

great site and book was awesome thanks for everything you do!
Fan of The Fire.
Any ideas of appetizers & desserts to make when our book club meets this Thursday to discuss “The Eight” besides chessman cookies? Thanks much for writing this! Gayle, close to Seattle, WA
Le Roman quest est une véritable passion chez moi et je suis toujours agréablement surpris de voir que des contemporains sont aussi passionnés.
Quelques ouvrages a terminer et je crois que je me ferais plaisir en m’offrant un de vos livres.
I think more people should read. It’s a wonderful thing to do and not enough do it.
Great website Katherine

Hi loved your book The Eight and look forward to reading the others. Thank you for writing them.
Ms. Neville,
I just love your Book, “The Eight.” I have a paperback copy, a Kindle copy, and an Audible recording. I’ve researched a lot of the historical figures, and geography you wrote about. I love how you incorporated the historical characters into your story.
Thank you, and God bless.

Oh, and great website!
Dear Katherine,
I hope you don’t mind that I call you Katherine.
Warmest regards,
Amy
.
Read The Eight when it first came out and fell in love with your writing. Just discovered The Fire existed and bought the e-book version, found your website on Amazon. Am thrilled that the story begun in The Eight has been continued. Your writing is a gift to “a hungry reader”. Thank you and blessings. A long time fan, Kathi
I think The Eight is one of the best I have read
Hello,
Love the guestbook, and creative captcha as well. Want just surfing threw the web to look for guestbooks to sign, and to complement the sites attached to them. I hope you will also drop by my guestbook Katherine when you have some free time. Nice site & guestbook.

Very much enjoyed viewing your new website. I will refer your e-book on Never Give Up on Writing

I admire your works, and would like for them to be a film.
Thank you for listening and sharing. For following your heart.
I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I love your books!
Hi Katherine,
I only recently learned of your loss. All my heartfelt condolences for your loss of Karl. He was an astounding and inspirational being. It was a true treasure to meet you both. I’m grateful to have been able to talk with him, however minimally, about his work and achievements. With my best wishes for your health and happiness.
Rachelle
Thank you for a lifetime of inspiration. I’ve always been a devotee of your work, but recently found out my name is an anagram of Daniel Brown. Particularly interested in literature where your research on the sacred feminine and family bloodlines intersect. Best wishes always.
Hi Katherine,
Am devouring your new web site. It’s beautiful. So much to read and think about. Photos are wonderful. Have loved reading all your books.
Lynn
Please, I’ve been waiting so long for a new book. I went to this site hoping to receive some great news and I find I’m still going to have to wait. Anything on the horizon?
Beautifull works 🙂

I am currently reading The Fire and I could say that as each event unfolds, readers would be more excited to know the next ones.
Kudos to The Eight!
I love your work.
Happy Eight Day (aka Happy Birthday), Katherine! 🙂 Thanks for the awesome reads!
My thoughts are with you during your time of loss.

Hi Katherine,
I am a Spanish Writer/Journalist/Dreamer based in London and a great fan of your work.
My friends borrowed me your books for a month and I worked well to buy more and became an instant fan.
I wish you all the best from chatting Berlin in Germany. Happy new Year!
Thanks, Katherine, for sharing so much of yourself and your work on this great site!
Hola
He vuelto a leer tus libros, gracias; espero sigas escribiendo y publiques algo pronto.

Thank you for allowing us into your home via the Washington Post. Another beautiful work of art.

a couple months ago in the books fair of my city i discovered the fire and the eight (in that order) and i was blown away. i’m surprised how little information about mrs Neville is avaliable and how she isnt on facebook, she got me hooked, and the book was published before i was even born. awesome
I really hope you come up with more books. I’m a great admirer of your work, your books are well known in Argentina.
when I read her book eight, I discovered with great satisfaction the masterful way she had to place chess as a point of origin of the ingenuity embodied in jewelry and figures, with fire as I have experienced in my profession (chef) has done it again capture my interest in the bird of fire for new game…
Ms. Neville, your life and stories are very inspiring. Full of intellect, courage and heart. Your stories are a rare blend of mind-body-soul. Please keep on publishing.
Best wishes from Singapore!
Loved your book.
I am reading Eight at the moment. I am about half way through it. I keeping wondering how it will all come together. Also the historical part, seems to be full of well known people. Is it possible that someone could have touched all their lives.
I have read all ur books and must thank u for all the time, effort, etc u put into each of them, because they bring hours of pleasure and happiness to ur readers! Thank you and congrats. on a great website and newsletter (LOL which makes me feel a bit like a stalker, but your books and life are fascinating!) 🙂
Simply love The Eight…I don’t want it to finish but at the same time I am in a hurry to read the next part of the book..thank you for a great read
I must say that you are one of my favorite authors!! The Eight, was the first book I’ve read of you and it was truly amaizing…. since then I have read all your books more than once… I just hope you never stop writing, because this stories means a lot to me.

Just picked up the Eight and now looking for The Fire…can’t wait to read both back to back. Ciao.
Har just läst boken The Eight (bättre sent än aldrig)
det var en mycket bra bok, bättre än da Vinci code.
Hoppas dom översätter fler av dina böcker till svenska. Är det kanske på gång ?

Hi I am trying ti find the eight for my iPad and doesn’t seem to be available. Is that correct? Also my local barns & noble stores are out of stock! I wanted to have the book for my vacation next week. Any ideas?
Oh yes I am leading discussion on the eight with my book club & tips would be appreciated
Thanks, rosemary
Great. I really like the book. I have recommended it to friends. All enjoyed a lot. Thank you for writing such a beautiful book. I wish you continued success. I hope you write a lot of books with similar characteristics. I am from Turkey. My English is not very good. I am writing with Google Translate. After reading this book all the names of the virtual environment, “solar” as a set. Would like to thank you on behalf of myself and all my friends and wish you continued success. 🙂

You are a master at intricate plots and I enjoy your writing a lot. My husband James Boschert, is an historical fiction writer of the 12 ct in Persia and the Middle East and his publisher publishes his books on E-book as well as paper. It is the way of the future especially while traveling. Try his publisher FIRESHIP PRESS to have your wonderful stories on E-Book as well as on paper.

Loved the others as well. Went to buy The Fire for a friend in NY and found this one in an old used book store.
I’m a big fan
I just finished reading “The Eight”. Excellent book, and looking forward to reading more of your books.
I love your book,I hope you are working on another. If you are I look forward to it.
Dear,
Did any of your books translated to Arabic; more information if Yes
Checking in and thinking about how you have been one of the people who have inspired me to write my first book. It is a bit more involved then I thought it would be but the story lies with in and I am looking forward to when I finally have it published… my wish is that one day I will have my own page about the many books I have written as you do. Thank you for your books and for the few conversations we have had that planted a seed that is now growing. Blessings to you, Katherine with love, Sharon
I’ve wanted to read The Eight for awhile but am waiting until it is available in ereader form so I may use my Kindle. Any idea when the ebook will become available? Thanks.
i like the eight very much. i love adventures of the book. i send e-mail you. and i really wonder.Congratulations to you again. I can not wait to read the book THE FIRE. i hope it will be translate to Turkish..
Dear Katherine: I just want to say… i absolutely love your books, especially Calculated Risk, which is my favorite book by far…
Please keep writing! 🙂 Greetings from Chile
I like your site. Keep up the good work Katherine!

that is so good.

I love your books! They are absolutely fantastic, thank you so much.
Gracias,
Desde Colombia.

Enjoyed both books. In my neck of the woods, this weekend is the annual “Firebird Festival” where a pyre is burned in Phoenixville, PA.
Dear Katherine,
An old friend gave me a copy of your book The Eight years ago & I loved it. I have read it many times throughout the years & it’s binding is now unbound. I have it held together with a rubber band when not being read, but no matter where I’ve moved to it has always had a foremost place on my bookshelves. I love your writing & your website is fantastic in it’s design & clarity for ease of use. Thank you for writing for us & sharing your gift.
Sincerely,

Me gusta mucho tu libro! Cuidate!
Dear Kathrine,
once again THANKS for your wonderfull work on your books because they can make you think! We really need more people like you… People that will inspire us, teach us, entertain us!

Barry
Dear Katherine,
John Dee! Amazing! I love all the facts and stories you share with us! Thank you for writing such wonderful books. Scott
Dear Katherine,
I’ve read your book THE EIGHT and I really like it a lot. At this moment, im looking forward to read the sequel you say THE FIRE. I’m a fan of J Grisham, but since i read THE EIGHT im now a big fan of yours . you’re a reallly good writer. more power. I’m a Filipino artist.
Claudia Morett Alatorre
Hello Katherine
I’m reading your book “The eight” and I think it’s great!
I’m chilean and I don´t speak English, for this reason I can’t tell you everything I think about your book.

R.
Great idea! We will do it soon! — Katherine and her Web Team
I have read in spanish the fire and I love the way you mix both stories in 200 years difference and the way you join them. Many thanks and please, keep writing¡¡¡ Greetings from Spain¡¡

I’ve enjoyed your books over the years. Those few pages in The Eight in which we encounter the Tassili paintings have never left me. Every so often I’ll browse through Pbase to find new photography of the area, even twenty years later.
Best wishes,
Larry (La Veta, Colorado)
Loved all of your books. Can’t wit for the next one.
Dear Mrs Katherine, Im Ileana originally from Venezuela but I live in Spain, a few weeks ago a friend of mine gave me your book “El ocho” i was sooo concentrated on that book that it made me get online just to see if you had a movie of that exellent book. i finished today, and am going to the library tomorrow to get “The Fire”… not a lot of people like me that are not interested in reading books get so exited at the end of one!!
So first of all, Congrats… i loved this book… and thanks for getting me in the move of reading!

Atrapante, no los puedo dejar, envidiable su estilo.
Gracias por estas historias.
Katherine, I just finished the fourth book of yours I read, A Calculated Risk. I loved it, as well as your others. I’m hoping for more soon? I love to read, and want you to let you know that you are one of my favorite authors, and that I enjoyed your books and am looking forward to future ones. Sincerely, Paul
It has inspired me to do some writings on my own… Even though I don’t know you, I can reliably say that you are one strong personality. I wish all the best to you, and, of course, to keep on with the good writings.
HACE UNA SEMANA A CABA DE TERMINAR DE LEER EL OCHO, ME GUSTO MUCHO Y ME LLAMO MUCHO LA ATENCION LOS NUMEROS Y SU RELACION YA QUE ME GUSTA LA MATEMATICAS ESPERO COMPRAR ESTE FIN DE SEMANA LA CONTINUACION DE OCHO
the 8-wonderful…do you have a license to prescribe literary viagra what a great historical name dropper… where is shakespeare and henry the eighth…how did you do all that research…were the associations fictional or supposed according to the time frame..? I have avoided female authors until now…looking forward to”The Fire” Thanks FWH.
I like reading your news letter. I also like your attitude [philosophy?] of life. Thanks for all you do from the trees to National Public Radio “spots” I always like hearing your name!!! Fondly, Marion
Dear katherine,
I have read only the book “eight” and now i am going to read the other 3 books of yours. I hope you write more books in the future!!!
Heinz

Been browsing your newsletters and other interesting data. I am really very eager to hear about your book on painters and do hope that the Surrealist are included. If not, perhaps I can be of service in your research.
At any rate, I do wish you a very Happy Holiday and New Year.
Reinhold
Dear Katherine Neville,
I am a big fan of all of your books. You are an excellent author and writer. I would like to get an autograph picture of you to put in my album. I would really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Michelle
You’re a genius. I totally loved the 8, Magic Circle & Calculated Risk. Fire is on order & I’m really looking forward to reading it.
Brava!
I love your writings. The 8 has been one of my fav’s for years and years! I grew up on Long Island, and lived and had my children in the Hamptons. The entire book is awesome cant wait to read more of your books.
Hey i just want to know if Katherine is going to sell e books in the ipad. i hope you can help me.
thank you
I just finished reading “The Eight” and I thought it was amazing. In the back of my book was the first chapter of “The Fire” and I found out that Alexander Solarin had died. I was just wondering why. I mean, Solarin was my favorite character in your book, and you, um, killed him. I can’t wait to read “The Fire” though.
-Zoey
I have been a fan of “The Eight” for almost 9 years. Originally I read it aloud with a very close friend, and have read it on my own several times since. Whenever a friend asked for a recommendation in reading, “The Eight” always came up.:)
This is the first time I’ve been to this website and the first that I’ve heard about “The Fire” I am very excited to go and get my hands on it! Thank you for such a great reading experience so far and I look forward to reading more of your work. 🙂
Love your books-cannot put them down.Have read “A Calculated Risk” It was so gripping I want to read it again.Look forward to any future novels you create….
Hola, buenas noches Sra. Katherine

Keep writing, please!
Thank you!
Hello Dear Katherine, It’s been a very long time and I love visiting your website and catching up with your goings on – including a new book or two! – and seeing photos of the treehouse. Had heard about it but never seen it. Lots of love, Charmaine
Katherine,
I read the Eight and the Fire, I enjoyed them so much that it was difficult for me to put the book down to resume my normal daily activities. I was captivated and hypnotized while reading.
Katherine, I am forever your fan. Right now I am reading The Magic Circle (could not find the book in Toronto, so I got it in the USA). Next to read A calculated Risk.
Thank you for sharing the awesome work of art.
Maria
THANK-YOU!!! For filling my summer “STAY-cation” with such a wonderful adventure. I finished The Eight in three days. I now have three days of house work to catch up on, before i embark into the next book. This is the first time i have ever been so compelled to extend my thanks, but that book was just SO AWESOME!!
Picked up “The Eight” at a used bookstore for a dollar. The best dollar I have ever spent. Will there be a movie soon?
I just finished reading the Fire and It was just as awesome as The Eight was. It’s like Harry Potter but better and different.
Hola me fasino tu libro estoy algo atrasado apenas lei el ocho te felisito me levaste de paris a argelia mandame una foto autografiada
Just read “The Eight” after a friend let me borrow it. Blew The DaVinci Code out of the water. Just sayin.
Dear Ms. Neville,
I’ll be a freshman in Highschool next year, and I just finished reading “The Eight” last night. It was AWESOME! They should definitely make a movie out of it. I started “The Fire” last night, and will most certainly finish it quickly on my plane ride.
Dear Katherine!
Thank you for your excellent books! The Eight is one of the best book of 20th century! I am interested in mysteries about us. I am an ordinary woman (cleaning, cooking, vacuuming… :-))but when I have a little time for me, I open your book and I’m leaving this world!
Have a nice day!
Iva
Best regards from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Buenas noches, mi nombre es Flor Rivas y soy Ing. en computadoras de Costa Rica, el Ocho es mi libro preferido. Soy una de sus admiradoras y espero leer El Fuego. Gracias
I’m reading your book “The Eight” and I have trapped in the story since the first page. I can’t stop reading it. I have “The fire” waiting me to be read.
I was looking for all of your books and I’m pleased of reading them. I hope we can get more stories in the future. Until that moment you are in the top of my appreciated writters.
Thanks for all!
Sincerely,
Refik Kadija
Hello Katherine!
I want to tell you that your book “The Eight” the greatest of all that I read.
Thank you very much for her.
It’s very sad than movie has not been made.
Also I am waiting for the Russian edition of the book “The Fire”
I wish you success and I will hope that there will be new books created by you.
P.S. I Love your Alexander Solarin)
Hello, Katherine. I met you several years ago. I’m excited to see you have a new book out and will go right out and get it!
I’m not so good in English. So that’s why I wrote this note in Spanish. I hope you understand! If you don’t well I will type it in English for you :), I’m really interested in this…Because I would like someday to write my own book….
Greetings
Hello
It`s amazing the way you tell the story. I just want to know where do you get the inspiration for writing those books that captivate people.
i have a passion for history!! your books take mystery, history, fact, fiction into a story that is so exciting!!!!! thank you for your wonderful books. i look forward to more in the future!!!!
The website is beautiful ! Congratulations !
Greetings from The Netherlands.
Keep it up!
I am now 3/4 through The Eight and am both anxious for and dreading the finish line. Thank You for making my hour long train ride to work something to look forward to.
Its good Im reading The eight and i like this
I now have read all of your books ! I loved them all but especially find myself recalling “The Magic Circle” most often. I too find myself walking within. I am curious though, is Hawaii a spiritual center? I lived there in the mid-sixties and felt its power more than once!
Congratulations!!!! I read The Eight ages ago and right now Im enjying The Fire!! I cant stop reading!!! thanks for your stories!!
Dear Katherine,
I wish you a great Solstice Week, happy holidays and all the best wishes for the New Year. Greetings, El .
In your book The Eight. When you talk about Abbeys in France, where did you get your information. History I enjoy greatly especially the French Revolutionary in which this takes place in that period of time. I would like more information.
Thanks,
Mouse
I have read “The Eight” and “The Fire”. Both are excellent books. I love the historical facts. I do agree with others who have said they would like to see these books made into movies. I hope there will be a third book soon.
What a wonderful mind you have. Absolutley an inspiration to me, thank you so much for such a great, great story.
K
IM READING THE EIGHT, A GREAT BOOK, IM LOVING IT, CAN WAIT TO READ THE FIRE, TWO OF MY HOBBIES, READ AND CHESS, WHAT MORE CAN I ASK
Unable to describe the hours of pleasure from reading and re-reading your book, “The Eight,” I am pleased to leave you this note and encourage anyone finding this site to experience a literary highlight through this book. Well done, and thanks.

HAPPINESSES

I read The Magic Circle and The Eight when I was at high school on my Latin teachers recommendation and really enjoyed them. I just found The Fire in my University bookshop the other day and immediately bought it.
I absolutely love The Eight. Mesmerizing.
The description is so detailed, it’s almost you right there – 18th century France. Could almost smell the streets odors.
**********PLEASE WRITE MORE.!!!!!!!!*************
Hello Katherine Im a 22 year old girl from Chile and I just wanted to thank you – thank you – thank you for your amazing books! I love you!
Your book “Eight” is fancinating! I couldnt get it off my hands and now that I have finished it I feel a bit empty. I think it woud be a GREAT movie! think about it! also i am wondering if all the information about the number eight and alchemy are true or fantastic. Anyway great job!
Hi there dear Katherine, Ive read all of your books so far and now am reading the first pages of “The Fire”. I am looking forward to see The Eight and The Fire on cinema too!
Hope it wont take long.
I am reading ” The Eight “, and I hope ” I can get ” The Fire ” in Danish. The Eight is an extremely good book. Perhaps I will try to play chess !!!
I am Spanish born in Barcelona. I read Eight (El Ocho) and now The Fire (El Foc, in catalan). I am very pleased to have chosen these works during this summer. Congratulations Katherine.
He LeÃdo El Ocho, una obra que sin duda alguna va más allá de la imaginación y la realidad, una combinación perfecta de ficción e historia. La duda y la curiosidad se abren en cada página de tan encantador libro.
I read The Eight and after that The Magic Circle, now I am going to read The Fire. Υou are a goddess!!!!!!!
Thank you Katherine, you are at the top of an elite few in your genre. Cheers!
Keep it up!
Hi Katherine,
I am an American currently living in New Caledonia (French Territory) and my husband is French.
Peggy
I was at a yard sale in Tacoma, WA and bought the Magic Circle in paperback for $1.00 to read on my plane ride home to Florida. This book amazed me. I knew a lot about the subject matter although you couched it in fiction. I have never enjoyed a plane ride so much. When I got home, I went straight to Barnes and Noble and bought all your other books. I have really enjoyed reading them. I read Eight a couple of times and will probably take it with me as I travel this summer. As soon as The Fire is available I will purchase it for my plane ride back to FL.
I`ve read The Eight, The Fire and The Magic Circle, right now I`m reading A Calculated Risk and I`d realy like to read a new book. Will there be one?
Ive just read The Eight and I really enjoyed it. It would be a good idea doing a film about this book.
I really want to keep all of your books as a treasure!
best regards,
stella
Hello Katherine!! I really love “The Eight” and obviously “The Fire”, but I really love The Eight; I think it is the best book you have written!!!
In The Fire I really was surprised that the daughter of Cat was named like me so I really was transported by you into the story-
Congratulations for your books, I am hoping that youre going to write more fantastic books for all of us! Again congratulations. And for all the fans of Katherine I recommend a book for all of you that Katherine already read that in Spanish is called “La Dama Azul” of the author “Javier Sierra”, Im sorry I dont know how it is called in another language. [In English: The Lady in Blue.]
Katherine, in the back part of that book, said that it was a magic and charming story. Because of that I read it and I really recommend it to all of you! Best Wishes!
Alexandra from Mexico
I loved The Eight! Please turn it into a movie!!!!
Hi Katherine. i really love the book of The Eight. I think is the best book that I have ever read! Im in the final 25 pages but I can say that is so brilliant. I love it so much specially the story of Marielle it was awesome!!!!
Loves you
Alejandra from Mexico!!!
Ive already read ” The Eight” it was one of the most excitings books Ive ever read and Im looking forward to reading “The Fire.”
Youcef
Hi Katherine, I am Yesim from Turkey very away from you but I am very interested in your books. My husband bought me your book “EIGHT”. At first I did not want to read it but when I only read the first page I found myself in the centre of magic. I loved your mystique. Kiss and congratulations.
Hi Katherine!! Im Gisele from Argentina.
My friend recommended me The Eight two weeks ago, and finally I got it last week!! OMG, Its amazing! I cant stop reading it!
Youre really talented, and I love the way you describe each character!
Dear katherine
I loved THE EIGHT (el ocho), its the second time im reading it and I discovered new things. My English is not the best but is enought to say CONGRATULATIONS. Im 15 years old, I love to read and, before met you, i didnt know who i wanted to be. Because I love computers, love books and to be a photographer or be model. BUT YOU ARE ALL THAT THINGS, you are really my model to follow. THANKS, for that.
Soon I will read your other books.
kisses and greetings from Buenos Aires!
Angie.
The Eight is THE most gripping book I think I have ever read. I have found myself thinking about the characters constantly, wanting to know everything about them and The Game. I literally JUST finished it and cant wait to get to my bookstore to buy The Fire!
This is a nice site.
Katherine – I too am a big fan and am close to a screen writer.
Has someone approached you regarding turning The Eight into a screen play? It would be fantastic –
Hi Katherine you are so talented! Your book, The Eight is my favorite of all time. I couldnt put it down! After Ive finished reading it, I was almost depressed because The Game I loved is finally over. But here comes the fire and Im very excited! Im gonna grab a copy soon!
Hello Katherine, I live in Mexico, and your book of “The Fire” just arrived here and I already read it, and I think it is one of the best books i had never read!!. In your books it is obviously reflected that you are a very smart person.
Congratulations for all the books that you had written. Im really hoping that you are going to writte a new history for us, all of your fans, because your tallent its very appreciated by all of us. I hope that someday I can know you in person. Best Wishes.
Dear Katherine: Ive just finished THE FIRE, which I received as a gift from my wife, its astonishing as THE EIGHT, and I must say both books are far way better and enlight more than Dan Browns. I can´t wait for my daughter to grow up (shes only 2) so she can feast herself with your books. Thanks and greetings from the worlds cauldron, México.
Dear Katherine, youre one of my favorite writers, Ive read The Eight, Calculated Risk and Magic Circle, and Im looking forward to read The Fire. My favorite though is the first one, have you ever considered making a movie from it?
Hi Katherine,
I was delighted to see your latest book in the library–Ill admit I havent kept up with what youve been doing since The Magic Circle was published. I ripped right through it. Thank you so much! Its good to know that another author finds the Metro/DC area worth living in.
Dear Katherine:
Im a spanish girl who really loved your books and is hoping to read more of your marvellous tallent for writting.
Thanks.
Dear Katherine,
Thanks for all. I really love all your books! I wish to be some day as good writer as you are.
Thanks for your books and thanks to be such a nice and wonderfull person!
Kisses
The Fire – Yet another tour de force of historical mysteries and an excellent follow up.
Katherine well done.
Hello,
I just wanted to point out/ ask something:
In your books you refer to many mathematical, scientific and musical terms and formulas, and obviously you are a very smart woman and probably know much more of those subjects that what you write.
Hello. You are the best writer in the world, Katherine Neville! I love your books. My favorite Book is “The Eight”. Good luck, Katherine. Im reading “The Fire”. Greetings!
Its said that when you are ready, Master appears. This is my feeling about “The Eight”. I always avoided to play chess (it was a hard thinking for me), but after all, Im enjoying the travel through your book and be sure that Ill buy “The Fire”. Very thanks from Spain.
Kisses from Cyprus
Yiota
Dear Mrs. Neville,
I live in Spain and I am reading your book “The Eight” in the Spanish translation.
HI KATHERINE AND ALL THE FANS,
IM JUST READING THE EIGHT, AND IM LOVING IT. I HATE CHESS, I MUST ADMIT, AND WHEN MY BOSS GAVE ME AWAY THE BOOK AND I READ IT HAD TO DO ABOUT CHESS. I THOUGHT I WOULDNT LIKE IT. BUT I WAS WRONG, ITS FANTASTIC!
I WANT TO READ THE FIRE NOW.
CHEERS FROM SPAIN
I realy loved the eight, so i was wondering isnt there a movie?
I read The Eight for the first time 20 yrs ago. It has been one of my favorite books ever since. I read The Fire recently, and no surprise, I loved it, too. I have read A Calculated Risk, which is wonderful and am holding off on reading The Magic Circle because I will then be out of Katherine Neville novels to read. When will you have another book available for publication? Can we hope for an announcement soon?
Todays a great day! I got an email from Book Passage that lists you as among the faculty again at their 16th Annual Mystery Writers Conference this July, and now I see that youve published The Fire! I know Ill enjoy it as much as Ive enjoyed your other work. Thanks, Katherine. 🙂
Dear Ms Neville
I have just finished reading The Fire and really enjoyed it.
A round of applause for you maam Neville. It was a great pleasure for us to have this new creation of yours, The Fire. I hope you will still continue to weave exciting stories in the future. Also, best regards to your staff.
Hello Ketherine,
I am 14 years old and until a few months ago completly disliked reading.
Katherine
Hi Katherine,
Ive been reading your books for a long time … and thank you very much your love for the Basque Country. You even thank us in your last book, something I found sweet;
I hope you feel yourself at home whenever you are in the Basque Country and I really hope to see you one day at a conference or something in Bilbao.
Muxus,
Leire
Dear Katherine!
I read all your books, but Fire. And they are brilliant. I read the eight 3 times already. I recomended to all of my friends. You are one of the best writer!
All the best from Austria
Peggy
I have always remembered The Eight as one of the best books I ever read. Im re-reading it now before I read The Fire. Ive wondered for a long time whether or not you would ever write another book. Im so glad you did.
Trying not to sound too excited, but failing miserably,
Annie
Katherine, I really enjoyed your talk last night at the Circulo de Lectores in Madrid. I read “The Eight” a year or two after it came out & have been waiting 20 years for the sequel. Now Ill re-read “The Eight” in Spanish before I read “The Fire” in English. Fran
Hola. escribo desde España y me a gustado mucho El 8 y El Fuego que lo termine ayer.Es realmente estupendo.
Dear Ms Neville
I really enjoy your books and have read The Eight many times. I also really enjoyed A Calculated Risk and The Magic Circle. I was so pleased when I heard about The Fire and have now started to read it. I am about half way through the book and really enjoying it. I recommend your books to all my friends. Keep on writing
RA
Hello Katherine.
Ive just finished The Eight, and Ive just renewed it for the fourth time (at the library)!
Your characters are simply brilliant and rather exotic, and the plot is ingenious.also the story was very ambitious from the start as you included Voltaire, Catherine the Great and even Euler.I never read thrillers, and this may well be the best of many historical fiction Ive read. There is something sophisticated like The Secret History but interpreted in your own style. Some reviews compared you to Dan Brown, but you have written something which Dan Brown can never manage. For one thing, you hardly have any deus ex machina,,,
Thank you for writing this book!
hello! im from greece and when i heard that you had written a sequel for the book the eight i was like crazy to bring it also here!!! your writing is amazing! plz write and another book for that magic chess.
Hello Katherine!!!! Congratulations for your new book its fantastic!!!!
See you. Greetings from Barcelona ( Catalonia )
~Nancy
I would like to see you in Bilbao, Spain. You are one of the greatest writer of the century. Christian
Hello Katherine!
I am such a huge fan of yours! You are my all-time favorite author. I really love the way you write your books; You never seem to disappiont me. Thank you for writing novels that truly bring a never-ending satisfaction and contentment in my life.
One day I hope that someone would really consider doing a film adaptation of you book ( The Eight & The Fire). * I really would love for this to happen* Im positively sure that you will have many many fans supporting this idea!
Besh wishes to you!
I first read The Eight when I was twelve years old. It was my favorite book then and now fourteen years later it still is. I am so excited for The Fire which I just recieved in the mail. ( Im rereading The Eight right now). Thank you so much for the next installment of the story. Youre an amazing writer.
Congratulations with this beautiful new website. Yesterday, I start reading The Eight for the 3rd time. Its my favourite book ever.
Looking forward to The Fire.
All the best for you, Katherine & thank you for the wonderful books
hello, Im from Brasil and was wondering when we gonna have The Fire translate to portuguese. I want so much read. The Eight it is my favorite book.and im waiting a long time to read the sequel!!!
I enjoyed so much meeting you and hearing you speak this past Saturday at the Mystery Lovers Bookstore in Oakmont, PA. Cant wait to read “Fire.”
Dear Katherine,
I have read and re-read all of your novels with tremendous enjoyment. That you satisfy my curiosity and need to find a deeper meaning to things, through your writing, is an invaluable gift for which I deeply thank you. Im looking forward with great excitement to reading The Fire.
Peace to you.
The Eight is one of the greatest books I ever read. Just hope soon it will be published in Spain. Cannot wait to have it in my hands.
Wow. Im sorry to say Id never read one of your books until two days ago when I picked up The Eight at a gas station. Outstanding!! Ive been looking for The Fire since I finished it! Still trying to find it, but so far no luck. I am looking forward to it!!
Cheers
Hola soy danny.
I have worked in libraries and bookstores for years and I have always recommended your books! Thanks for writing a sequel to “the Eight”
I have been telling everyone! about it. I hope lots of people come and see you while you are in Seattle!
Ms. Neville,
I want to thank you for your book The Eight.
Thank You.
The eight caught my eye in Barnes and Nobles and I had no idea it would be such an amazing and thrilling book! You have gotten me interested in learning more not just about chess but history as well. Im currently reading the Fire and that book has me just as much enthralled.
The Eight is a blast! I love the twists of the story. Very clever and so sophisticated!
I just read the Eight again for what must be the 5th time now. No other story has ever captured my imagination quite like that one. I’ve been waiting 12 years for the journey to continue and the time has finally come.
THANK YOU!
Katherine,
Thank you for the most enjoyable read I have had in a long time. Cant wait to read “The Fire”. I handed The Eight off to my daughter. You have a new fan.
Dear Ms Neville,
I was so entranced whilst reading The Eight, which my mother gave to me, and I have The Circle and A Calculated Risk dutifully waiting my attention on my shelf.
Best wishes,
Emily Lorch
~*~god bless you~*~
Thank you for writing such entertaining novels. Thank you!
As a painter people ask me why I dont paint outside ( I do landscapes ) and my simple answer is “If I wanted to remember what I am Seeing I would take a photo.I am trying to show you my dreams and thoughts.my imagination”
PEACE
Hi Katherine, I LOVE The Eight! I first read it when it was published in 1988 and Ive reread it many times. I cant wait to read The Fire! Im going to your book signing at the Boulder Bookstore on Nov 17 🙂
P.S. Rosie, Tyger and Alfredo are very cute! 🙂
I cant tell you how excited I was when I first learned that there will be a sequel to the Eight! I was BEYOND ELATED and just cant wait to read The Fire. I love your work. Do you have plans in visiting SC any time soon? I hope so!
I loved your book The Eight. I am excited to read The Fire. I am working on getting your other 2 books also. I want to buy them instead of just checking them out from the library, and that is why I havent read them.
I am on my 2nd copy of The Eight as the first one fell apart. I have pre-ordered The Fire and cant wait. Please come to Florida!! We would love to see you.
The Fire is an amazing book. Although, I am reading The Fire before The Eight the book is such an amazing story that I will have to read The Eight. To bad you are not visiting a Books-A-Million in Alabama.
~Lexy
I am so excited to read “The Fire” I just recently reread “the Eight” (for the 5 or 6th time), and I am continuously amazed at how relevant it is.
Please let me know if Ms. Neville is ever coming to Florida!
I must admit I have read, The Eight, about 7 times, and looking forward to reading it again. It is my favorite book and I couldnt be more excited to pick up The Fire. Thank you so much for writing.
Dear Katherine, I am re reading the Eight while I wait for Fire. I have a historical book club at my Barnes & Noble in Amherst, NY. WE will read the Eight for our October Selection.
Katherine,
I was given The Eight about a year ago and just recently picked it up.
