Margaret Mead & Moshé Feldenkrais

Back to Karl and Friends Gallery

Malka Feldenkreis gave Katherine this photo of the very young and very tiny Malka, throwing her brother Moshé over her shoulders in an exercise at the Paris Jiu Jitsu club.

Moshé Feldenkrais was the founder of the Ju Jitsu club of Paris, and one of the first Europeans to earn a black belt in Jiu Jitsu.

Moshé Feldenkrais developed the Feldenkrais Technique, a bodywork method which is based on his lessons of Awareness Through Movement.

Karl, Margaret Mead, and violinist Yehudi Menuhin were on the board of Feldenkrais Foundation. Feldenkrais also worked with dramatist Peter Brooks and his Theatre Bouffes du Nord.

Here Margaret & Karl are observers at Moshé Feldenkrais’ clinic.
